As many of you are aware, several homes in Eagle Point were vandalized during the night of July 4. Houses, driveways, retaining walls, mailboxes, and vehicles were damaged with spray paint and raw eggs. All known damage occurred around the area of Eagle Point Circle, Eagle Valley Drive, and Eagle Mountain Lane. Reports were filed with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office on July 5. The Sheriff's Office is actively investigating, and has received some leads on possible suspects.
Anyone with information about the criminal activity that occurred during this time is urged to contact the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office directly at (205) 669-4181, through the Secret Witness line at (205) 669-9116 or through the website at www.ShelbySO.com by clicking on the “Report Criminal Activity” link and choosing the “General Information” category as reference.
Please continue to be vigilant.

Safety
We have been notified that some of our residents are firing guns in the woods between Eagle Creek Circle and Eagle Point Circle. Please know that firing guns is not allowed in Eagle Point. Shelby County considers firing a gun, BB or otherwise, in a residential neighborhood to be Reckless Endangerment. Reckless Endangerment may be considered a felony.
Read this reference from Shelby County Sheriff's Office: Reckless endangerment is a charge which can be filed against people who engage in activity with foreseeably dangerous consequences with a disregard for the danger involved. This charge may be a felony or a misdemeanor, depending on the specifics of the situation. Reckless endangerment can also be combined with other charges.
In situations deemed reckless endangerment, people do something which they know is dangerous and they do not exhibit any thought about the potential consequences of what they are doing. They willfully behave in a way which is wanton or reckless, putting other people at risk. No intent to injure or kill is required; it is enough that the person knew an activity could pose a threat and chose to do it anyway.
Please employ common sense when it comes to the use and enjoyment of firearms. Thank you!
